MONTHLY WRAP-UP #6 | August 2018

August Wrap-UP.png

Hello, everyone! I hope August was a great month for you, both for reading, blogging, and in life in general! This post is going to be really short because, well…I only finished one book this month. And it wasn’t even a new book! So let’s dive into the one and only book that I finished in August 2018.

1. “Six of Crows” by Leigh Bardugo

Six of Crows

Are any of you surprised that the only book I read was my favorite book (and also the inspiration for the name of this blog)? You probably shouldn’t be, but if you are, that’s okay, too. For those of you who don’t know what Six of Crows is about, it follows six teenagers that band together to try and get somebody out of the place that is supposedly impenetrable. I really enjoy the writing, the sass between the group, and how the book delves into four of the group’s backstories.

I wasn’t just reading it to read, though. I’ve been wanting to learn how to annotate books, and so since it’s my favorite book, I figured it would be easy to annotate (I was right). I don’t want to go into too much detail because I’m planning another post specifically on annotating your books, but I had a really fun time with it.

So, yeah, that’s pretty much all I have for you folks. What have you read in August? Were you in as big of a funk last month as I was?

Until next time~

  1. I haven’t yet read Six of Crows. It’s on my TBR, but I’m dreading picking it up, since I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the main characters in the Grisha trilogy. I hope the MCs here aren’t as whiny as Alina was (sorry). I almost ended up in a reading slump too, twice actually, since I almost DNFed a book I wasn’t expecting to be disappointed in, and then I was just tired. But I signed up for ARC August, and I knew I was going to have to push through.

I’m excited to see your post on annotating books. I’ve never done it, and I have no idea how to do it, so I’m very curious!

    1. Yeah, I heard that the Grisha trilogy is a bit rocky, but that SoC is much, much better in terms of writing, characters, etc. I encourage you to pick it up sooner rather than later, but I might be a bit biased, lol.

Oof, I get that. I just had too many things going on and not enough time to just sit down and listen to a book for an hour or two. But, hopefully September is better for the both of us!

Thank you! Spoiler alert, but a lot of it consisted of me just winging it, lol. It should be up on the 7th, I think. 🙂
