Review Policy

I AM CURRENTLY NOT ACCEPTING REVIEW REQUESTS

Hey there! If you’re on this page, you’re probably an author, publisher, or agent interested in sending me a book to review. Great! I just ask that you read through this page first so you have all the information needed before making the commitment to contact me! Without further ado, let’s get into it.

ACCEPTED AGE RANGES AND GENRES

I read a wide variety of genres and age ranges, and because of that, I wanted to put them all in one place. This is a pretty exhaustive list, so if your book doesn’t fall into the correct age range/genre, I ask you not to contact me for review. It would save us both a lot of time!

Also, I don’t have them as their own genres, but I want to be clear: I wholeheartedly support diverse and #OwnVoices books and their authors. If your diverse and/or #OwnVoices book falls into an accepted age range/genre combination, I encourage you to reach out!

THE NITTY GRITTY

Approximate Time Limits

If the book is an ARC (Advance Reading Copy)/galley, I would urge you to contact me at least one month before publication. Otherwise, I cannot guarantee I’ll be able to get to it before the release date. For books that have already been released, give me about 4-8 weeks upon receiving a copy. However, I want to emphasize that that is an estimate, and sometimes it may be longer.

Preferred Format

I prefer physical copies. However, if that is not plausible, I also accept PDF and EPUB formats. If it helps to know beforehand, I live in the United States.

Negative Reviews, Tagging Social Media Accounts, and DNFs

Unless the book is for a book tour and there are minimum star rating requirements, I will post my review regardless of the star rating (on a 5-star scale). However, I won’t tag the author, publisher, or agent in negative or critical reviews, as I believe that to be rude and that it defeats the purpose of tagging (positive publicity). I may also review books that I have DNF’d (Did Not Finish).

Miscellaneous

I will post my review on this blog (Kait’s Cozy Reading Corner), as well as on StoryGraph. My blog is connected to my Twitter account, so when the review goes live, a Tweet with a link to it will be sent out automatically.

If you send me a book to review (regardless of format), I will clearly state so at the beginning of my review.

If you have the means to and value my services, I accept tips through Ko-fi or Venmo (xxksedxx). Note that this is in no way a requirement for me to review your book, simply a nice tip for the time and labor that goes into reviewing books and running a blog. Tips are always greatly appreciated, and regardless of the amount, I am always grateful for them.

I will also make it clear at the beginning of the review that I may have been tipped for the time and labor that goes into reviewing books and running a book blog. However, tips do not influence the content of my reviews.

CONTACT ME

If you wish to contact me for review, you can either use the contact form on my blog or email me directly at sixcrowsbooks@gmail.com. I do not accept review requests through Twitter DMs, and I will ignore any that are sent to me.

Please include the following in your email:

  • title
  • author
  • genre
  • age range (ex. young adult, middlegrade, etc.)
  • if it’s part of a series
  • any social media accounts you would like me to tag on Twitter if I agree to reviewing (if it’s a negative review, I won’t tag anyone)
  • any trigger and/or content warnings for the book (or indicate that there are no major trigger/content warnings applicable)

If you do not hear back from me within one to two weeks, consider it to be a denied request. However, if you have other books you wish to request for review, you may send a separate email for that particular book — a denial for one book doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll deny all other books!
